Perhelatan Akbar Tour de Singkarak resmi dibuka Minggu, 2 Juni 2013 mendatang. Sebanyak 16 tim luar negeri dari 26 negara ikut bertanding melawan 6 tim asal Indonesia dengan 220 orang peserta. Bukittinggi pun dipercaya sebagai Kota pertama event internasional ini dimulai.
